Conservation Outdoor Recreation Education and Canadian Firearms Safety Course Class dates set for The month of June.

We offer The Conservation Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE) program and The Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) for students from Whistler, Pemberton, Squamish And Vancouver British Columbia Canada.  We can arrange to do classes in your town if you can get a group of students together.  Call or email the instructor for more information and requirements. Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE) Program

The Conservation Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE) program is designed for individuals wishing to obtain their first B.C. resident hunting licence. It is offered through a partnership agreement with the Ministry of Environment and the British Columbia Wildlife Federation (BCWF).

The program is useful for anyone interested in outdoor recreation, wildlife and firearms safety. The successful completion of the program is required for B.C. residents at age 18 or over who wish to obtain a B.C. resident hunter number card, and a first B.C. resident hunting licence.
The Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education (CORE) Program is British Columbia’s Hunter Education Program. It is also a great program for anyone interested in outdoor recreation.

The CORE Program consists of a practical firearms handling test, and a written examination on all of the following subjects:

• Conservation
• Ethics
• Law and Regulations
• First Aid and Survival
• Firearm Safety
• Animal Identification
• Bird Identification

Canadian Firearms Safety Course

The Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC) was developed in partnership with the provinces and territories, national organizations with an ongoing interest in firearms safety, and many firearms and hunter education course instructors from across Canada. This course was developed to meet the mandatory requirements of section 7 of the Firearms Act.

The legislation stipulates that individuals wishing to acquire non-restricted firearms must take the CFSC and pass the tests OR challenge and pass the CFSC tests without taking the course. Individuals wishing to acquire restricted firearms must take the CFSC and the Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC) and pass the tests OR challenge and pass the tests without taking either course.

Topics covered in the CFSC include:

• The evolution of firearms.
• Major parts.
• Types and actions.
• Basic firearms safety practices.
• Ammunition.
• Operating firearm actions.
• Safe handling and carry procedures.
• Firing techniques and procedures.
• Care of non-restricted firearms.
• Responsibilities of the firearms owner/user.
• Safe storage, display, transportation and handling of non-restricted firearms.
